Things To Do in Andover, MA
Twinned with a town of the same name in England, Andover is in Essex County, MA. Part of the town comprises the census-designated place of Andover. Multiple waterways feed the area, including the Shawsheen River, Fosters Pond, and Pomps Pond. Additionally, Haggetts Pond, located in the west serves as the town’s reservoir.
Settled back in 1642, the town was incorporated in 1646. The name was chosen in honor of the city of Andover, a place near the original home of a number of the first residents. The city participated in the Revolutionary War by sending about 350 men toward Lexington. The Massachusetts Constitutional Convention of 1779-1780 had several notable residents from here sent to it.
The area is well known for its art, brewing, and park scenes. The Addison Gallery of American Art is the best place to visit to behold a world-class collection of American Art alongside an adventurous exhibitions program. Oak & Iron Brewing Co is the place to turn if you want time-honored classic beers and New England Inspred seasonals. Ward Reservation, Bay Circuit Trail, and Pomps Pond are three amazing places to visit if you want to experience the natural world of Massachusetts.
